These numbers dont mean much without more information. Why are you sharing this information? When you write a newsletter article or something for an impact report, why are you including that information? Your donors want information that lets them know how theyre helping you make a difference and why thats important.

How to Write a Killer Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to Get a Grant

On rare occasions, a funder is so convinced by a Letter of Inquiry that the fit is just right, and they’ll write you a check without additional information or supporting documents. Look for this information on their website, if they have one (often foundations do not), or on the foundations IFR Form 990. Use a letter format.

If thats too much, you could give a shout out to your monthly donors and include information on how to become a monthly donor in your newsletter. Include this information in their welcome letter or email. If you change your payment processor, make it easy for donors to transfer their information.

You could also direct people to your website for more information about your nonprofit. Be careful about how much information you send. Your welcome package should include a warm introductory message and a few facts about your organization, but don’t brag too much. Keep it donor-centered and be personable.

Context is Everything: the Problem Statement

Context is information that gives the reader a frame of reference for concepts in the rest of the proposal. That descriptive information context can provide emotional impact to complement the hard data. Most readers would not know that information without doing research, so it is meaningless on its own.
