The ongoing erosion of democratic norms and institutions disproportionately harms BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) and immigrant communities, who are underrepresented at the polls and in the halls of power. In the face of extremist violence and escalating threats, it can be difficult, if not overwhelming, to contemplate what we as funders can do to protect and sustain American democracy.

A record number of bills last year censored school curricula, targeted trans athletes, and weakened protections for LGBTQ people, but funding for those groups actually stagnated despite progress over the previous decade. By Sara Herschander The Washington Post via Getty Images As donations dip across the charitable sector, advocates say it couldn’t be coming at a worse time for LGBTQ nonprofits fighting to preserve their hard-won gains — and bulwark civil rights in the process.
It’s summer but teachers are still hard at work creating lesson plans for the next school year. It just makes sense. Something else that makes perfect sense is the pairing foundations with education. Educators all over the country are reaching out to various foundations to become learning partners in their classrooms. The reasoning behind this decision is that by allowing foundations to bring their knowledge and passion for community into the classroom, children get real-world, hands-on ex

Data transforms nonprofit marketing and fundraising strategies; by incorporating real supporter information, you can personalize your campaigns and build genuine relationships with your donors. However, when your data is isolated in different systems, it can be difficult to generate useful insights. These isolated systems are called data silos, and they can prevent your team from unlocking key trends among your supporter base—limiting your outreach progress.
Wondering how to effectively request donations for your nonprofit on Facebook? Social media is essential for nonprofits to connect with their community, raise awareness, and boost fundraising activities. With its massive user base of over 3 billion people worldwide, Facebook stands out as a particularly powerful platform for these efforts. However, maximizing Facebook for fundraising requires a strategic approach.
For nonprofits in close-knit communities, community-centric fundraising (CCF) may be a more effective fundraising approach than other methods of fundraising. I have made it to Dubrovnik, Croatia for the start of my second study abroad program! Some structural inequalities I have become more attuned to during my travels in Eastern Europe are gender, educational, and economic disparities. Some social conditions that exacerbate these inequalities are the masochistic society, a history of conflict between ethnic groups and religions, and a lack of industry development. and opportunity.

Dear fellow research enthusiasts, As I dive deeper into my summer research journey, I find it important to look back on the surprises and problems I’ve faced. Already, I have been surprised by how the results of my research have begun to guide changes to the form of my project. Since my last blog post, I have spent the most time developing a small program that generates frame looms for weaving that have varying, random characteristics, which may end up becoming the focus of my finalized works. I have become increasingly interested in understanding an interplay between pattern and randomness as the force that shapes all systems.
Have you ever been annoyed at a company just because it made a change to its marketing or advertising campaigns? Maybe it was a business that switched its slogan for no reason; or maybe it was a firm that did a complete about-face and changed its name to something ridiculous or created a brand-new ad campaign, when the old one was working quite well.
Hello again! A lot has happened since my first blog, and I am excited to share both the triumphs and challenges I’ve encountered along the way.
