When I was Economic Development / Grants Coordinator for the City of Lynwood, CA in the late ’70s, the “white flight” following the 1965 Civil Unrest in adjacent Watts left the City with almost no retail and lots of vacant buildings like closed Montgomery Wards and Sears stores. with dilapidated and torn blue awnings!
