Little did I know those conversations, and applying for a GPC scholarship, would change the trajectory of my career and my life forever. You cannot develop grant proposals in a vacuum with no underlying knowledge of what activities will be feasible on the ground. Look for opportunities to work with program staff, whether through conferences, co-written articles in professional journals, or regular participation in program meetings.
