Our Chapter is holding its annual conference in a couple of months. This occurred the same year I decided to attend the GPA Conference - 2018 in Chicago, IL. At the conference, I met other South Florida members at a chapter dinner. “How long have you been working in the field?”, The what?”, I frowned while responding.

During this time, I have participated in numerous grant conferences and workshops and discovered that many of us became grant professionals not by choice, but by chance or necessity. In 2008, I accepted a position as a Major Gifts Officer at the largest independent nonprofit air and space museum in the world.

The organization got started when a group of Kenyan bloggers led by Erik Hersman began doing online mapping of violence reports after the 2008 Kenyan election. During the early days of our Netsquared project , we held big annual conferences to showcase and fund innovative tech for good. So much innovation.
